One of our newest nonprofit fundholders is Obria Medical Clinic Gwinnett. We recently chatted with Executive Director Robin Mauck to discover more about Obria as well as why they became fundholders with us. Read about them as well as some exciting community news!
CFNEG: Why did Obria Gwinnett decide to become a fundholder at the Community Foundation? We wanted to become more connected to the community and loved the Community Foundation’s mission of Connecting People Who Care with Causes that Matter.
CFNEG: What’s it been like working with the Community Foundation? Working with Randy and Margaret over the years, and now Britt, has been great! They are always responsive to any questions I have and the workshops they provide are incredible.
CFNEG: What do you want people to know about Obria and the work you’re doing? Obria is an accredited holistic women’s medical clinic whose goal is to provide optimal healthcare for all. Our three-pronged approach provides medical services, education and material resources. Our robust education program is now providing online education, in-house education, group meetings and is growing at an incredible rate. We also have an Optimal Education Program in our local school and college.
CFNEG: How can our community help support Obria? We are always in need of brand-new clothing and baby items for our baby boutique as well as volunteers on a day-to-day basis. We offer tours every Tuesday morning so that people can really lay their eyes on what we do, and so that those who have invested in Obria can see what their investment is doing.
CFNEG: Any exciting news/updates/events you want to share? We just hired Dr.Jean-Gilles as our new Medical Director and we are scheduled to begin full prenatal care for our patients beginning July 2020! We will be the only non profit providing prenatal care to the uninsured and under-insured. Georgia has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the nation and we want to address that in Gwinnett and the surrounding counties.
CFNEG: What would you say to encourage other nonprofits to become fundholders? The Community Foundation really cares about you as an individual and your cause. Randy is the king of networking and is so good about connecting you with people who he believes will benefit from a relationship with your organization.
CFNEG: What else would you like people to know about Obria? Obria has been in existence since 1991. We have strong ties to this community and we want to do everything we can to meet the needs of women, youth and families so that we can make our community a better place.
